Another successful collaboration project with Florida Atlantic University and
South Florida Water Management District was the use of South Florida Water
Management District microwave towers to provide wireless Internet access for the
rural Everglades Youth Conservation Camp site located within the J. W.
Corbett Wildlife management area. The mission of Everglades Youth Camp is to
foster awareness, appreciation and concern for Florida’s wildlife and
environment through outdoor recreation and adventure activities in a residential
setting. Florida Atlantic University Pine Jog Environmental Center along with
other groups offer amazing opportunities to explore nature at the peak of its
season. All programs focus on wildlife and habitat issues unique to South
Florida and are designed to increase the camper’s knowledge and appreciation of
wildlife.
